How to Make a Flower Crown with Things Found Around the House

Flower crowns. Ever since I saw them on Pinterest, I’ve made a mental note that I’m going to make one. They’re so pretty and colourful that I just want to make one. Anyway, Josh and I went to a Luau party at church last weekend. And because the event called for a Hawaiian-style apparel, it was a very good reason to create such.

The problem was I don’t have floral wires and floral tape as what most tutorials call for. Heck, I don’t even know where to buy them.

So I improvised!

So if you, ladies, want to make flower crown but don’t have the materials, don’t be disheartened. Just let your creativity flow and use stuff you can find in your house. Here’s my own take of how to make flower crowns with things already found in your own home.

What you’ll need:

1. A bunch of flowers
2. Masking tape
3. Some Wires
4. A ribbon or gift wrapper
5. Wire cutter or scissors

How-to Steps:
1. Cut each of the steps to separate the flowers.

2. Grab your wire and cut a piece long enough to form a circle. This will serve as the  base of the crown. I used a bunch of wire for wrapping cables and appliance cords — I honestly don’t know what they’re called.

Don’t worry if the shape isn’t entirely round because you’ll only need that as a guide once you starting putting the flowers.

4. Grab a stem of flower and tape the stem onto the wire. Do this until you have taped all the flower stems on to the wire. If you have more flowers, you can cover the entire length with it. If not, like mine, just cover the bare wire with tape to stiffen it.

 5. As you can see above, we’re actually done. However, it looks plain ugly when you can see the tape bare and all. What I did was I covered it using a spare gift wrapper fabric. I used tacky glue on the surface so they stick. You can also use hot glue if you want.

6. And we’re done!

Enjoy!
